Claude 3 Opus Model Dethrones ChatGPT-4 and More

As promised, every Tuesday, I will share some titbits about AI for all to enjoy.

I will keep it concise, but if anybody needs more details, just DM me.

You know that saying – *”Change is the only constant”?*

Well, it’s proving true yet again in the world of AI! Big news just dropped that Anthropic’s Claude 3 Opus model has dethroned the long-reigning champ, ChatGPT-4, as the top performer on one of the most prestigious AI benchmarks.

Of course, we can’t count out OpenAI just yet. They could shake things up again with the launch of their much-hyped GPT-5 model. The AI arena is an exciting battleground!

I don’t know about you all, but I’m eagerly awaiting the next developments. AI is evolving at breakneck speed, and it’s thrilling to witness the rapid progress unfolding before our eyes. One thing’s for sure – the state of AI won’t stay stagnant for long. Get ready for more shake-ups and game-changing breakthroughs!

We’ve got to embrace this ever-changing landscape if we want to stay ahead of the curve. It’s the key to continued innovation and success in our field.

So, let’s buckle up and enjoy this whirlwind ride of AI advancements together!

For those uninitiated in using Claude, here are the steps:

  • Go to the Claude website and sign up.
  • You can enter your prompt in the text box and press enter to get a response.
  • Claude 3 is multimodal, which means it can understand text, images, PDFs, and other formats

*Here are some things you can try with Claude:*

  1. Summarize Files like PDFs, research papers, essays, and more.
  2. Understand Images: Upload an image, like a complicated diagram, and ask Claude to explain it to you.
  3. Understand Complex Calculations: You can upload images of a calculation and ask it to explain what the equations are for and how to use them.
  4. Suggest Design Improvements: Upload an image of a website — or even your living room — and ask how you can improve the design.
  5. Transcribe Handwritten Notes: Upload pictures of handwritten notes and ask Claude to transcribe them for you.

You can access the mid-range Claude 3 Sonnet model for free, but the top-end Opus model requires you to subscribe to Claude Pro.

Okay, coming back to ‘Sora’, OpenAI’s huge announcement some weeks ago.

Sora was released to specific individuals and organizations only, for trial.

Have a look at what these Directors, Moviemakers did with Sora, and what are their comments:

https://openai.com/blog/sora-first-impressions

Interesting clips and comments!

The last tip for today, to find OpenAI’s resources and tips to craft the *PERFECT PROMTS* and more interesting stuff:

  1. Visit OpenAI’s Cookbook on GitHub.
  2. Select the folder named “articles” and click “related_resources.md”
  3. You should now have access to many prompting libraries, tools, and even papers on advanced prompting to improve reasoning.

Some of my favourite techniques include Chain of Thoughts (makes the LLM “think” before providing the final answer) and Tree of Thoughts (it generates a tree-like structure of ideas, with every idea representing a step toward solving a problem).

It’s like a treasure chest for the AI enthusiasts, enjoy!

Hope these news and tips are useful to you, do let me know.

If you like this short blog, an indication will be appreciated.
